As with all Americans, health care coverage is critical for immigrant families and their children. The combination of coverage and access to affordable health care providers, services and facilities is especially important for families in immigrant communities throughout New York City, and can instill a sense of stability and security for families in these and other medically underserved communities.

AAFSC's health-related workshops and seminars are open to all, and members of many communities are served through free consultation and referrals to health care providers. Clients who are uninsured receive assistance with selection and application for free or low-cost health plans. During the application process, program staff members work with families and individuals to take into consideration applicants' special healthcare and language needs. Staff members assist with applications for Child Health Plus, Adult Medicaid, the Prenatal Care Assistance Program, and other plans.
