Moheeb’s poetry

May 26, 2016

One of our Youth Program students, Moheeb, has self-published a book of poetry! Moheeb is a 5th grader at P.S. 261 in Brooklyn and created his poetry collection, “The Open Poetry,” for a school project.

Here he is in front of our mural of Khalil Gibran, the famous Lebanese-American poet who began his literary career as an immigrant in New York City in the early 20th century.

Here are Moheeb’s two favorite poems from his collection:

Mom

As beautiful as a red rose

Eyes like the honey with a splash of brown paint

Style as fresh as opening the box of a new unbent baseball cap

Dad

Strong like a boulder

As caring as a cat snuggling to stay warm
