Volunteers play a critical role at the Arab-American Family Support Center. Every year, over 75 volunteers make our work possible. With your skills, you can make a difference while building a strong community.
Please note – due to our transition from in-person programming to remote programming, we are working with volunteers to ensure COVID-19 safety at our events. All positions are remote unless you are volunteering for an outdoor event. We currently do not have weekend or evening opportunities at this time.
Are you a gardener or someone who has skills to support the development of a garden to address food insecurity? We’re looking for interested volunteers to support with weekly gardening events for a Taskforce on Racial Inclusion & Equity (TRIE) project, aimed at combating the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on communities of color. Gardening for Hunger events will happen on Thursdays, with the dates and times listed below. This is an in-person opportunity and proof of a COVID-19 vaccine is required to volunteer. AAFSC is seeking volunteers to support survivors of domestic and gender-based violence through our housing and resource navigation services, within our Anti-Violence Program. Volunteers will work with Case Planners to identify appropriate housing options and availability, based on client needs. This requires a basic understanding of NYC neighborhoods, rental assistance programs, and Zillow, StreetEasy, etc.
We are looking for individuals interested in helping us promote food access for immigrants and refugees. You’ll support our survey efforts around Halal food options in NYC and contribute to a resource for food-secure families.
We are looking for individuals interested in civic engagement, community development, and canvassing to support our Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts. You’ll support us with voter registration clinics, phone banking sessions, and general outreach to further promote civic engagement for NYC’s immigrant and refugee communities.
We are always looking for skilled photographers, videographers, and graphic designers to support our work.
We are looking for creative thinkers and makers to support the development of our anthology project. You’ll support outreach efforts to collect submissions, creative production, and copyediting.
